Thirteen-time LPGA Tour event winner Rosie Jones has been named the skipper of the US team for the 2011 Solheim Cup.
Jones, who is now retired, made seven appearances in the biennial trans-Atlantic team match and sank the winning put for the US against Europe in 2002.
She last played in 2005 at Crooked Stick, going unbeaten in three matches.
"I am honoured and absolutely ecstatic to be chosen as captain," she said.
"The Solheim Cup has been a huge part of my career as a player and now it will be even more exciting as I prepare for what promises to be another great Solheim Cup in Ireland."
The 2011 match will take place at Killeen Castle in County Meath Ireland from September 23-25, 2011, when the US will be looking to secure a fourth consecutive title.
And they will have the formidable experience of Jones to look to for inspiration. In her seven appearances in the Matchplay contest the 50-year-old has amassed 12 points and is in joint seventh for the highest scorers of all time.
