Matthew teams up with Aberdeen Asset Management

Reigning Ricoh Women's British Open champ 'delighted' with new sponsorship deal

Reigning Ricoh Women's British Open champion Catriona Matthew has revealed she is "delighted" to be teaming-up with Aberdeen Asset Management, one of the biggest investors in Scottish golf.

The international investment company has announced that the Solheim Cup player has been added to its already impressive sponsorship portfolio.

And Matthew, who won her first major championship last year just 11 weeks after giving birth to her second child, is thrilled with the deal.

"I am delighted about my new partnership with Aberdeen Asset Management," said Matthew. "It is a brand which has become synonymous with Scottish golf and I am proud to wear their logo as I play in front of the crowds at the Evian Masters and then compete to retain my Women's British Open title at Royal Birkdale."

A major supporter of Scottish golf, Aberdeen Asset Management also sponsors LPGA golfer Mhairi McKay and the Scottish Ladies' Golf Association, as well as Colin Montgomerie, Sandy Lyle, Paul Lawrie, Asian Tour professional Simon Yates and the Scottish Golf Union.

The Aberdeen Asset Management logo will appear on Matthews' cap at the forthcoming Evian Masters and the Ricoh Women's British Open where she will defend the title she won in 2009.

Martin Gilbert, chief executive of Aberdeen Asset Management added: "We are very proud to align our brand with such a successful Scottish golfer. Catriona is a great Scottish achiever for which we wanted to show her our support.

"At Aberdeen, we are firm believers in supporting golf at all levels from the professionals all the way through to the amateur and grass-roots levels.

"We wish Catriona every success in the Evian Masters this week and in her defence of the Open at Royal Birkdale."

The worst kept secret in golf is finally out. Tiger Woods will play in this year’s Ryder Cup, captain Corey Pavin having elected to give the embattled 14-time major winner one of his four wild cards. No great surprise there. As poor a season as he has had by his own high standards, compared to the rest of the guys ... Read More
