Leading Scottish amateur Philip McLean is hopeful Scotland can do the double by adding the European Nations Championship to victory in last year's European Amateur Team Championship when the tournament gets underway in Spain later this month.
McLean, who finished fourth in the 2009 SGU Order of Merit, is one member of the four-man team all making their debuts in the event - formerly named the Sherry Cup - and is relishing the prospect of representing his country.
"It's a real honour to be selected for Scotland in this event and I hope we can build on the recent success our teams have enjoyed in the World and European Championships.
"We're all new to this one, but we've had a good build up to the season in the States, Portugal and Spain and the boys are well prepared."
Scotland finished 11th in last year's championship and the team will have to overcome a defending England side, including Walker Cup players Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Haines and Chris Paisley, to lay hands on the silverware this time around.
Callum Macaulay, Wallace Booth, Keir McNicoll and Scott Henry were all in the ranks when Scotland last achieved that feat in 2008, but McLean suggested that he would be looking to some of the European Tour's more established stars for inspiration.
"The Championship has a strong history and some great players have taken part over the years, including Padraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia, as well as Ross Fisher and Richie Ramsay of late.
"It would be great to follow in their footsteps and doing well would be a good boost for the season ahead," added the 22-year-old.
The other rookie members of the Scottish team lining up at the Copa Real Golf Club in Sotogrande will be Ross Kellett, David Law and James White.
