Monty on the go despite injury worries
European Ryder Cup skipper won't let calf strain interfere with captaincy duties
European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie may be suffering with a calf injury, but that hasn't stopped the Scot fulfilling his captaincy duties in Wales.
The European skipper has been suffering from the calf muscle injury for a month, only just managing to complete his second round at last week's BMW International in Munich with the help of painkillers.
However, Monty has not allowed the injury to stop him in his role of Ryder Cup captain, taking the time to visit a Newport, home of the 2010 event, to encourage the Welsh public to join their local libraries.
He called into a local library, pictured above, to read a few pages from his favourite Harry Potter book, and even offered the chance to win two free tickets to the Ryder Cup for those who signed up for a library card.
Meanwhile, the Scot hasn't let up on his bid to win a tour event before the big event at Celtic Manor from October 1-3 this year. Despite his injury, the Scot is competing in the French Open this week and will be hoping to continue to play through both the Scottish Open and the Open Championship at St Andrews in a fortnight's time.

The worst kept secret in golf is finally out. Tiger Woods will play in this year’s Ryder Cup, captain Corey Pavin having elected to give the embattled 14-time major winner one of his four wild cards.
No great surprise there. As poor a season as he has had by his own high standards, compared to the rest of the guys ...
