Monty will wait to name vice captains
European Ryder Cup captain will name assistants after Open Championship
European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie has revealed he will wait until after the Open Championship at St Andrews to announce his two vice captains for the October event.
The Scot hopes to talk to Jose Maria Olazabal, who made his comeback to golf following a back injury at the French Open last week, and will finalise his support staff for the showdown with the USA on July 20.
Monty has put off naming his wingmen for the event at Celtic Manor to avoid any player accepting his invitation and then stepping down to try and make it into the side themselves, as Paul McGinley did ahead of the 2008 match at Valhalla.
The Irishman and Denmark's Thomas Bjorn are the most likely duo to assist Monty for the event, which takes place from October 1 to 3.

The worst kept secret in golf is finally out. Tiger Woods will play in this year’s Ryder Cup, captain Corey Pavin having elected to give the embattled 14-time major winner one of his four wild cards.
No great surprise there. As poor a season as he has had by his own high standards, compared to the rest of the guys ...
