Open champ splashes his cash on tractor
Louis Oosthuizen's first purchase as Open winner is custom-made tractor
New Open champion Louis Oosthuizen has already started splashing his £850,000 prize money, with a tractor his first purchase.
Before the 27-year-old had secured his seven-stroke victory, fellow South African Gary Player had predicted that his compatriot would follow in his footsteps by purchasing a farm.
And Oosthuizen, himself brought up by a farmer, wasted little time in feeding his agricultural enthusiasm with the custom-made tractor, a passion he says he wants to pass on to his baby daughter.
"I'll have a kiddie seat in it for my daughter Jana," the runaway winner of this year's championship at St Andrews said.
"We're going to have a lot of fun. I bought the tractor for my farm. Being a farm boy, it was one of my big dreams."
The 'Champion Golfer of the Year' also revealed that he is enjoying the more glamorous side of the game having won his first major, and has earned himself a few new friends in the process.
"Flying in this morning by private jet... it's all starting to sink in," he said.
"I also got a call from Greg Norman and he said something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
"He said I am the first person to get him to watch a full round of golf on television. He watched my first shot [on Sunday] to my last and couldn't leave the couch."

The worst kept secret in golf is finally out. Tiger Woods will play in this year’s Ryder Cup, captain Corey Pavin having elected to give the embattled 14-time major winner one of his four wild cards.
No great surprise there. As poor a season as he has had by his own high standards, compared to the rest of the guys ...
