A new golf tour for all Scottish professionals will tee off for the first time this month with a 36-hole event at Whitekirk in North Berwick.
The Xltec Pro Golf Tour is a self-funded circuit open to PGA and non-PGA certified pros, giving them a chance to play for prizemoney and an all expenses paid trip to the season-ending event in Murcia Spain.
Tournaments will also take place at Hilton Park, Dalmahoy, Westerwood, Spey Valley and Dundonald throughout the year, with the top ten earners being invited to the €12,500 Race to Spain finale pro-am at the Hacienda Del Alamo.
The entry fee is £100, and will go straight into the prize pot, which is expected to reach around £10,000 for each Scottish event.
The new tour is the brainchild of Marriott Dalmahoy director of golf Alan Tait, who believes it will be a stepping stone for Scottish pros, allowing them to play competitive golf without having to pay up for travel and other expenses.
