It’s day one of the AT&T National Pro Am at Pebble Beach and after weeks of drought weather in northern California, I can confirm the drought is over.

It’s a “dreich” day out there (for you non Scots, this means rainy, windy and cold). Great for Mother Nature but not so great for the caddies working it this week!

This is my second time around as former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s caddy. One year later, I can report that Condi’s golf is in great shape. We have continued to work together on her game, sharpening up her posture and path.

Her tendencies are to aim left and come in over the top, which produces a weak left to right shot. Once she gets her alignment comfortable and attacks the ball from the inside, the results are pretty impressive.

Condi is paired with former winner, DA Points, and will tee it up alongside Phil Mickelson.

As with any player, we work on the short game a lot. In preparation for this week, we have spent the majority of our practice working on her routine to slow everything down and to get here really comfortable before executing.

Having a good routine also helps with any anxiety and there may be some anxious moments out there today. Condi is paired with former winner, DA Points, and will tee it up alongside Phil Mickelson and his amateur partner – wow! If Condi isn’t anxious, the caddy might be!

Can’t wait for the round to get going. It’s a shame the weather is so bad but hopefully I’ll keep Condi and the grips dry and we’ll enjoy the company of the Open champ for the next few days.
