(BTW – in case it wasn’t just his age that escaped your attention, McIlroy has a further notable achievement over Fowler. He has actually won something.)

I can’t remember a golf tournament as controversial as this year’s US Open. I’ve heard so many opinions about it, especially for the final round. Some think it was very sloppy, others thought it was great golf. Whatever the case may be, it was very memorable.

The only thing that could have made Cristie’s victory better would have been if she had won on July 4th weekend. Needless to say, her golf game was extremely impressive that day.

Having read Scott’s comments I would agree entirely with his views. I have rarely if ever come across many Scottish golfers who have played in this area and they really are missing a treat.
I have had the pleasure of staying in Southport, on holiday, and played Royal Birkdale, Hillside, Formby, West Lancashire and Royal Liverpool. There are many other fine courses in the same area at a more reasonable price. I would agree with Scott, however, that it would be worth saving up to play some of these superb courses. Although they may be pretty expensive, you don’t have to pay an airfare to get there as they are within a four hour drive, well worth the effort.
I would just finish by saying that although we are blessed, here in Scotland, by having so many wonderful courses, the same could be said for many other parts of British Isles. Scott should try Southern or Northern Ireland, where there are so many wonderful courses you are spoiled for choice. The only problems are the time and the money. Like Scotland though, there are many hidden gems at very reasonable prices and our Irish counterparts are very, very sociable!!

Without a doubt Lee Westwood. Casey at times he has proven he can play solid golf but lacks the consistency. Poulter is more worried about how his hair and outfit looks and he has a candid ability to fade in the big events when he is high on leaderboard on the weekend.

If Lee can overcome all these close calls and clutch, he will have a chance to chase down Phil who will be the world’s #1 in a few months time.

COuld not disagree more about the ken brown stuff, I think it’s really interesting, and gives an allbeit limited insight into the course itself, for those of us that will never get to walk the augusta national course
