Gleneagles Hotel 90th anniversary

Since its opening in 1924, Gleneagles Hotel has been described as ‘A Riviera in the Highlands’ and ‘the eighth wonder of the world’. Now 90-years-old, the resort is offering guest, some unique offers to celebrate.

Guests at the Perthsire resort now have the opportunity to sample a special blend of whisky, along with great value guest accommodation packages.

A special blend

Gleneagles is offering a ‘whisky experience’. Where guests can discover the art, skill and craft of whisky blending. You can have a go at creating your own whisky elixir to enjoy at the bar and then take home your memento as a gift.

You can also try your luck at whisky blending. Using a selection of carefully chosen malts, the ‘perfect pour’ experience will teach you how to identify, savour and blend the various flavours of whisky.

As part of the ‘perfect pour’ guests can stay from £345 per room, per night based on two people sharing a Sovereign room, including breakfast and whisky blending for two.

The Royal Lochnagar suite honours Gleneagles’ heritage, with its classic luxury and stunning views.

You can enjoy an overnight stay in the Royal Lochangar which also includes canapés and the 90th anniversary signature cocktail in the suite on arrival, Table D’hôte dinner in The Strathearn restaurant, complimentary private chauffeur drive transfers from Edinburgh or Glasgow and finished with a Gleneagles breakfast for £1924.

Gleneagles and the Ryder Cup

The Perthshire destination will host the 40^th edition of the famous match between Europe and America.

Matches will be played on the PGA Centenary Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, on September 26-28, and Nicklaus believes this shows the pedigree of Gleneagles.

“I’m proud the 2014 Ryder cup is at Gleneagles on the PGA Centenary Course,” said Nicklaus. “Our aim was to make it a better golf course and I think we’ve achieved that.”
