Designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd – the man behind the Castle Course, Machrihanish Dunes and famed US course Bandon Dunes – Huntsman Springs in Idaho is one course you might want to take note of.

It has already been described by the designed himself as his ‘greatest architectural achievement’ and is part of a new resort and nature reserve located close the ski resort of Jackson Hole and within a short drive of Yellowstone National Park.

The golf resort offers a natural retreat where families can enjoy the serenity and beauty of the undiscovered Teton Valley, with the stunning Teton Mountains as a backdrop.

Players have a sense of vast open spaces with views in every direction. The course lends golfers an array of options and strategies to get the most out of their game, including split fairways and many bunkers.

The par-72 course provides championship conditions from May to October and its fairways average 80 yards in width.

McLay Kidd, the winner of Golf Magazine’s ‘Architect of the Year’ award in 2008, said: “When asked what are my greatest achievements in golf design so far, most expect me to say Bandon Dunes. Huntsman Springs is, to me, my greatest golf architectural achievement. We seek to take golfers on an adventure marked by nuance, subtlety and unpredictability. My philosophy is to embrace nature’s imperfections.”
