Nike introduces new Versatility styles

Nike has unveiled two new footwear styles, the Lunar Waverly and Lunar Mont Royal, which join the Lunar Clayton as part of the Versatility family.

Drawing inspiration from its roots in athletic shoe design, Nike says these new designs are perfect for use in warmer weather or during a long day on the course.

The Lunar Waverly has been designed to be just as comfortable on the course as it is off the course. It was developed in partnership with the Nike Sports Research Lab, who used pressure-mapping analysis to determine how the foot moves during the swing, bringing as many benefits as possible to you on the course.

The brand listened to the findings of that research and it can be seen in the design through visible colour patters on the traditional Nike waffle outsole.

Surrounded by a premium waterproof full-grain leather upper, Nike’s Dynamic Flywire technology combines with the rubber cup-sole for support, while cork has been used for the first time ever as the sock liner, giving an extremely comfortable and lightweight fit. The full-length Nike Lunarlon foam provides the responsive cushioning to make this an all-round performer.

The Lunar Mont Royal is based on brand’s first signature shoe for running, the Montreal, which was first released in 1975. The design has been adapted for use on the golf course and features Lunarlon foam in the heel and modern no-sew technology in the midfoot. Like the Lunar Waverly, it utilises the traditional Nike waffle sole for grip and control.

“The Lunar Waverly and Lunar Mont Royal were really inspired by our classic footwear styles, and we adapted those designs for athletes who want a golf shoe with versatile appeal,” said Carl Madore, Nike Golf innovation design lead.

“These are shoes with incredible performance technology that are great for playing 18 holes or wearing before or after the round, too. You can hit balls at the driving range on your lunch break without ever changing your shoes. These styles are modelled after some of our first shoes but modernised to perform specifically for our sport.”
