Designed for distance, we introduce the X Hot Irons and Hybrids

If you’re tired of clubbing up compared to your playing partners at par-3s, Callaway might just have the answer.

With the creation of the X Hot range they have launched a pair of aggressive irons – X Hot and X Hot pro – both of which are fuelled for distance but with distinctly different technologies.

In pursuit of more distance in the X Hot irons, Callaway has combined a deep undercut cavity and its powerful Speed Face Frame technology. This has meant that COG could be positioned to the most beneficial location possible and the hottest area of the club moved lower; where most golfers make contact.

The Speed Face Frame is technology usually saved for Callaway’s drivers, but designers found that its use, which optimises stiffness across the face, could enhance energy transfer, producing more ball speed and consistent distance gains.

The X Hot Irons have been meticulously engineered – both in terms of physical characteristics and club configuration – to increase ball speed and promote overall distance optimisation,” said Dr. Alan Hocknell, SVP, research & development, Callaway Golf. “And in doing so I think we have raised the bar and created the standard in distance for the irons category. Golfers will very much enjoy the results.”

A dual material medallion rounds off the X Hot by taking care of feel, fine-tuning sound and promoting a crisp feel.

While distance is still a consideration for the discerning golfer, the X Hot Pro iron features a blend of power, feel and shot-making characteristics. To achieve this, a new stainless steel J-Face design precisely controls the thickness of the face and the depth of the undercut.

And, in attempt to widen its net to the better player still, the X Hot Pro features 20-degree Close Spaced V Grooves, which are typically reserved for forged player irons. Their inclusion ensures that the Pro offers up to 1000rpm more backspin out of the rough in comparison to its predecessor (Razr X Tour).

To complement the new distance-promoting irons, the brand has also announced the launch of X Hot and X Hot Pro Hybrids.

Again, they feature a thin Speed Face Frame to drastically improve how quickly the ball comes off of the face.

Each model incorporates a modern take on the vastly popular Warbird sole plate, which is relieved at the heel and the toe, making it highly playable from a variety of lies.

The club shape and construction allows for the distance and forgiveness of a fairway with the accuracy of an iron. Differences between the standard and Pro model of the hybrid include a smaller profile and footprint in the better players version.

RRP: X Hot Irons £729(g), £599(s)

X Hot Pro Irons £699

X Hot Hybrids £149
