Bryson DeChambeau | Cobra

Bryson DeChambeau looks set to leave his single-length Edel Golf irons behind after exchanging them for a new set of specially made Cobra King CB irons.

According to PGA Tour equipment man Jonathan Wall (@jonathanrwall), Bryson DeChambeau spent Open week ‘grinding away’ at Cobra’s Carlsbad HQ to get his new iron set up right.

Pictures from the range at the RBC Canadian Open show the irons are being kept tightly under wraps, with a white covering placed over the back of each of the irons.

The move comes just a few months after the PGA Tour rookie was spotted with initial prototype versions of Cobra’s King Forged MB and CB models in the bag, but he is now expected to just use the cavity back version throughout the set.

The new set-up will replace Bryson DeChambeau’s much talked about single length – 37.5 inch – Edel Golf irons, which helped to propel him to both US Amateur and NCAA titles last year.

With traditional iron lengths changing by around half an inch from one to the next, the 22-year-old is renowned in the golf world for playing all of his irons at close to 6-iron length with a constant weight of about 280g.

Once described as ‘a custom Frankenstein-monster set’, his world-renowned Edel Golf irons could now be confined to DeChambeau’s garage if this week goes well. If not, you may well see them back in play very soon.

Bryson Dechambeau’s single length irons – will they catch on?

There have been many discussions online about the viability of single length irons and how they can improve the game for some people, do you think they will ever become mainstream? Let us know in the ‘Comments’ section below.
