New Cobra Gear

Cobra Golf has announced a brand new family of drivers that it says is set to provide ‘maximum distance for any swing and any golfer’.

The new Fly-Z, Fly-Z+ and Fly-Z XL drivers are set to arrive in the opening months of 2015 and are the follow-up to Cobra Golf’s popular BiO Cell and BiO Cell+ lines.

Cobra has introduced its new FlipZone weight technology, giving you the ability to move the low centre of gravity to the front or back position to promote faster ball speeds, lower spin and optimal launch angles.

The FlipZone is Cobra’s first foray into front-to-back adjustable centre of gravity tech and features a 15-gram weight that can be set toward the front or back of the head located low on the sole of the driver.Cobra Fly-Z

Engineered to deliver the best blend of maximum distance and increased forgiveness, the low, back centre of gravity zone weighting delivers low spin, mid-high launch and fast ball speeds across the face.

The E9 Zone Face technology removes weight from key areas behind the face and hosel to increase the size and speed of the sweetspot for more distance on off-centre hits.

It also features an advanced multi-material construction and next generation T.O.P. (Thin. Optimised. Personalised.) technology, which has been updated with a new Titanium 6-4 body and carbon fibre crown and sole pieces to maximise discretionary weight. That weight has then been strategically positioned low in the clubhead for maximum distance and forgiveness. Adjustability is also offered through Cobra’s MyFly8 technology allowing you to choose from eight loft and trajectory settings between 9° and 12°.

“The Fly-Z driver is positioned as one of the most forgiving drivers currently in the marketplace, yet it doesn’t sacrifice distance,” said Tom Olsavsky, Cobra’s vice president of R&D. “The 460cc driver offers a slightly larger address profile that enabled our engineers to create the most forgiving driver that Cobra Golf has ever made.”

Available from January 23, 2015 with an RRP of £249. For more information, log-on to cobragolf.com

Cobra Fly-Z+

While the Fly-Z is about the combination of distance and forgiveness, the Fly-Z+ driver is aimed at the better player and Cobra says it features the lowest centre of gravity of any adjustable weight driver on the market.

Featuring the same E9 zone face weighting as the Fly-Z, the Fly-Z+ has been designed to increase distance through offering an ultra-low centre of gravity.

This means there is a change of performance in the two weight settings, allowing golfers to adjust to what is the longest and straightest for them. The front centre of gravity position provides a mid-launch angle with ultra-low spin and a penetrating ball flight with more roll for maximum distance, while the back centre of gravity position delivers a mid-launch angle, with additional spin resulting in a towering ball flight with maximum distance and more carry.

It also features new Speed Channel technology, which is an engineered trench around the perimeter of the face that works to minimise thickness, resulting in increased ball speeds across the face for more distance and forgiveness.

Available from February 1, 2015 with an RRP of £329. For more information, log-on to cobragolf.com

Cobra Fly-Z XL

Finally, there is the Fly-Z XL model that has been engineered to make golf easier through higher draw-biased ball flights for more distance.

Designed mainly for seniors, women and beginner golfers, it has a 460cc, all titanium head that features a slightly lower profile face, combined with an offset hosel to deliver the trajectory that is often needed for these categories of golfers.

It also features the Speed Channel Face with Forged E9 Face Weighting and Crown Zone Technology.

The Cobra Fly-Z XL is available from November 14, 2014 with an RRP of £199. For more information, log-on to cobragolf.com
