King F6 Baffler in Rickie’s bag

Cobra has revealed the new King F6 Baffler fairway wood and Rickie Fowler had a big part to play in its development.

Fowler had this club built with the Masters in mind – specifically the par-5 15th – and it came as a result of discussions with his coach Butch Harmon. Harmon had suggested Fowler could benefit from a fairway wood with more weight on the bottom to give more height to his shots.

As a result of that discussion, Fowler asked Cobra to make him a club with rails on the bottom, similar to those seen in the original Baffler from more than 40 years ago.

Ben Schomin, Cobra’s PGA Tour rep built a test club for Fowler by welding the rails onto the bottom of his existing Bio Cell+ 5-wood. It was then known as the ‘Frankenstein’ club internally before Cobra named it the King F6 Baffler when it was ready to be released.

Primarily, the King F6 Baffler increases the forgiveness of the clubhead through the turf from any lie with the rails helping to it move through the turf more easily.

It also has two moveable weights – one 15g and one 3g – that can be switched to get the trajectory you’re looking for.

Alongside the King F6 Baffler, Cobra has revealed its King Utility 3-iron.

Designed to give the feel and performance of an iron with the forgiveness and higher flight of a hybrid, the hollow body has a 67g tungsten weight positioned low and back in the head to increase forgiveness.

It is also Cobra’s first adjustable hollow body iron and features MyFly8 Technology which allows you to tune your loft from a 3-iron at 21˚ to a 2-iron at 18˚.
