Scotty Cameron has taken the cover off his new Select range of putters and they feature a new ‘face inlay technology’.

There are seven new models in total making their way to market and each has been designed to suit a different stroke type and style.

A lot of finding the right putter comes down to your own personal preference and the new technology in the face has been created to give better feel and feedback. Scotty Cameron says it the feel has been described as ‘soft but solid’ by those who have tried it out during testing.

Where face inserts are visible at address, the new face inlays wrap around the sole and disappear from view.

“This new Select line promotes feel while expanding what’s possible with performance,” added Cameron. “We’ve extended the methodology of our proven multi-material technology. The result is a better look, a better sound, a better feel and a better product.”

A favourite among a lot of golfers, new versions of the Select Newport, Newport 2 and Newport 2.5 models are to be released. The inlay has improved the feel and feedback of these heel-and-toe weighted blade designs, and a new vibration dampening material has also been installed on the face.

With a slightly larger head the new Select Newport 2 Notchback the inlay has allowed more weight to be moved to the perimeter of the design, improving both stability and forgiveness on putts hit off-centre.

If you like a mid-mallet head, the new Select Newport M1 and Newport M2 will be right up your street. Suited perfectly for ‘straight back/straight through’ stroke types, the head has been made more forgiving, more stable and better sounding with better feel.

Last up is the Select Newport 2 Notchback Dual Balance. A new design that will also help those affected by the anchoring ban, it combines the appeal of Newport head with real stability.

Titleist’s Dual Balance technology sees this model boast a 50g heavier head and a 50g counterweight in the butt of the shaft, helping you make a more consistent stroke.

Cameron continued: “While performance is always the end goal, I first design for aesthetics. Initially, a design has to appeal to the eye. But, when you examine the components, you can appreciate the technology that goes in to creating these amazing new putters.

“I’ve worked with insert ideas for years. This is the culmination of my research, the various inlays we’ve developed for this new line.”
