Srixon reveals new Z Series

We’ve been looking at pictures of Graeme McDowell and Keegan Bradley using some mysterious new clubs for the last few months but now all has been revealed as Srixon launched its new Z Series hardware at prestigious Hertfordshire venue The Grove.

The Z Series features new metal woods, utility clubs and irons designed to offer you tour-influenced performance, innovation and design, and will be available to buy from October 1.

The only driver in the range that will be launched in the UK, the Z545 is a mid-high launch driver that is fully adjustable with low spin suitable for all players.

Srixon has enlarged the sweetspot by 35%, too, increasing forgiveness and distance in the process.

More distance is also given by Srixon’s Dual Speed Technology, which delivers more kinetic energy at impact, resulting in more head speed, more ball speed and more distance.

The adjustability comes from the brand’s Quick Tune System, which allows the loft, lie, face angle and centre of gravity settings to be adjusted easily by anyone. The 12-way hosel design tunes faces angle and lie along with loft, while the adjustable weight port comes standard with a seven-gram and three-gram weight.

Described as both ‘explosive’ and ‘versatile’ the new Srixon ZF45 has been engineered to maximise ball speed and distance. The Quick Tune System again offers adjustability, while the Booster Cup face ensures you get maximum ball speed.

Meanwhile, the ZH45 hybrids feature redesigned shapes for smoother turf interaction and a more confident look at address. The Dual Speed Technology maximises ball speed and distance while the centre of gravity has been moved lower to promote a higher, more penetrating launch.

Srixon says its Z series of irons has been built to satisfy the needs of two distinct players types: All-ability and Tour.

The slim topline and compact shape in the Z745 and Z945 irons provide the confidence and workability the ‘Tour’ player type wants, while the ‘All-ability’ player will find added forgiveness and distance in the slightly large Z545 irons.

McDowell, Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama have all given input on shapes, adjustability, weight placements and face materials, enabling ball speeds to be maximised with face constructions.

Throughout the Z series, the iron and utility clubheads are forged from high quality, soft 1020 carbon steel. This ensures the faces are high-strength while also exceptionally responsive and smooth at impact.

All of the irons feature a newly developed Tour V.T. Sole to enhance turf interaction and trajectory control, giving a crisp, consistent feel through impact, while also boasting double laser milling. One pattern sits parallel to the grooves, while another sits slightly angled, resulting in more stable spin performance and distance control.
