Srixon Z65 woods unleashed

Srixon has officially revealed its range of metalwoods for 2016. Called Srixon Z65, they have been designed specifically to give ‘maximum distance and control’.

The Z65 family, which will be available in the coming months, features two new drivers – Z565 and Z765 – ZF65 fairway woods, and ZH65 hybrids.

Srixon says both of its new drivers for 2016 have been created with an array of technologies that deliver higher launch, more forgiveness and increased distance.

The Srixon Z65 driver built for the all ability player, the Z565 has a new 460cc head that promotes the higher launch and additional forgiveness Srixon targeted. It also comes with a slight draw bias, counteracting the amateur golfer tendency to slice the ball.

When you look at the Z565 driver at address, its footprint appears larger and more rounded. This, according to Srixon, makes it more playable and inspires confidence as you stand over the ball.

The face of the driver has also been made shallower to give more ball speed across the entire face. As a result, distance is increased and dispersion is less on off-centre hits.

The Srixon Z65 driver for the better player is the Z765. It is slightly smaller with its 445cc head, but has a similar appearance at address as the previous Z745 driver with an increased toe area.

When it comes to tech, the Srixon Z65 drivers are packed. Both models feature the never seen before technology called the ‘Ripple Effect’.

Effectively, it’s the result of the combined performance of several technologies. The first of those is a Power Wave Sole, which Srixon says absorbs more stress at impact, allowing more energy to be transferred between the clubhead and ball.

The second is the new Stretch Flex Cup Face. It has been extended farther around the crown and sole to create a sweetspot that is 10% bigger. The final piece of the Ripple Effect puzzle arrives through the new Lightweight Crown. It has allowed four grams of discretional weight to be repositioned to give higher launch and more clubhead speed.

The all-new Srixon Z F65 fairway woods have also been able to benefit from some of the alterations found in the new drivers.

The introduction of the new Power Wave Sole, Stretch Flex Cup Face and Lightweight Crown means that the Ripple Effect tech is found in the fairway woods, too, helping give more distance, as well as higher, more forgiving launch.

Completing the metalwood line-up is the Z H65 hybrids. Like the fairway woods, they have been designed with the aim of giving more distance with a higher more forgiving launch.

They boast Ripple Effect technology alongside a new Arc Support Channel that is progressively deeper by loft to give more consistent distance and accuracy on longer shots.
