TaylorMade | Junior gear

TaylorMade Phenom clubs have launched with the aim of encouraging ‘proper swing fundamentals’ within young golfers.

The brand says it has optimised the lengths, weights and lofts of the clubs to give consistent distance gapping throughout the set for boys and girls as they develop in the sport.

The shafts of the TaylorMade Phenom clubs have also been optimised in terms of flex and weight, while also being made to the appropriate lengths. TaylorMade says it has developed the grips to meet the needs of smaller hands, allowing for more feel.

The TaylorMade Phenom driver has a 400cc head and has been created to combine distance, forgiveness and easy launch technology. Both the fairway wood and the Rescue, meanwhile, have a design that will help juniors get the ball airborne off the tee and from the fairway.

The irons and wedge have perimeter weighted heads to give as much forgiveness as possible, while also helping juniors hit the ball as high and straight as possible.

The Phenom putter is a centre-shafted mallet to make it easy to align, while heel-toe weighting gives forgiveness on mishits. The release is rounded off with an ultra-lightweight stand bag.

“Phenom sets are precision-engineered to provide the optimal lengths, weights, lofts and shaft flexes to promote proper swing mechanics for young golfers,” said Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade’s senior director of product creation.

“Each Phenom set includes every club necessary to develop distance gapping while executing all types of shots from tee to green so juniors not only develop their skills but also their passion for the game.”
