TaylorMade | M2

TaylorMade has completed its new M-series line-up with the introduction of the new M2 metalwoods.

The new designs join the already popular M1 driver as part of the series for 2016 and are focused on giving as much distance and forgiveness as possible.

Where the M1 driver offered a lot of adjustability in the form of its T-Track system on the sole, TaylorMade built the M2 without the tracks as it understood not everyone would want to or be able afford the £429 price tag. Instead, its performance benefits have been brought front and centre and, as a result, the price tag is lower.

M2 crown

One similarity between the M1 and M2 is the carbon-composite crown. In the M1 it allowed TaylorMade to save 5g of weight to be used elsewhere in the head and it does the exact same in the M2.

Instead of using that weight on the moveable weight tracks, though, TaylorMade has put more weight down and back in the clubhead to help with both the launch and forgiveness it offers from the tee.

As it set out with the aim of making forgiveness one of the main attributes, TaylorMade’s engineers spent a lot of time and effort working out how to make it as forgiving as possible.

They made changes to technology on the face as well as redesigning the Speed Pocket behind it to ensure hits away from the centre would fly just as far down the fairway as hits on the sweet spot.

Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be TaylorMade if they didn’t manage to squeeze in a some adjustability and that can be found in the form of its loft sleeve, which allows you to change the loft to one of 12 different positions in a four degree range.
