BILL CLINTON | IRELAND

A member of an Irish club made a golf ball discovery with a difference on Wednesday – by picking up former US president Bill Clinton’s!

Damien Doherty, head greenkeeper at North West Golf Club, said a member had found it while out playing and posted this picture to Twitter, showing the ball had the seal of the President and also his signature.

Bearing in mind Bill Clinton was president from 1993-2001, it could mean the ball has been nestled on the course for at least 15 years!

It’s not known when exactly Bill Clinton played at North West Golf Club but the 42nd President of the United States has made many trips to Ireland over the years and is a popular figure in the country for his role in the peace negotiations with Northern Ireland.

“You just have to keep swinging and know it will all even out” – Bill Clinton

His favourite course in the world is even in Ireland. In 2009, Clinton named Ballybunion in County Kerry as his favourite, saying: “It’s perfectly Irish: beautiful, rough, and a lot like life — you get breaks you don’t deserve, both ways. You just have to keep swinging and know it will all even out.”

If Clinton happens to return to North West Golf Club in the future, it looks like that ball will be there waiting for him!
