Global Sports, the owners of the heritage golf brand Bobby Jones, have announced the opening of The Royal Liverpool Golf Club’s Bobby Jones ‘Shop in Shop’.

The shop commemorates Jones’ historic 1930 grand slam at the venue where he won the Open 84 years ago. The shop has been fitted with specially commissioned furniture, pictures of Bobby Jones and the centrepiece ‘Greatest of them All’ Point of Sale, commemorating the brand’s 25th year anniversary.

“It is fantastic to be reminded of the greats that have played and won on our course.”

John Heggarty, head pro at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, is pleased his club is honoring a great champion.

“It has been a pleasure to work with the team at Bobby Jones this year. It’s such an exciting year for the Royal Liverpool Golf Club and it is fantastic to be reminded of the greats that have played and won on our course in previous Open Championships.”

Bobby Jones 1930 Open

After winning the British Amateur, Jones headed south to England’s Golf Coast, the site of this year’s championship. The American won the Open by two shots over Macdonald Smith and Leo Diegel, but he wasn’t finished there.

He smashed Walter Hagan’s course record by ten strokes, becoming the first man in that century to win the British Amateur and Open titles. The American legend’s good form continued throughout the season as he completed a career grand slam, winning the US Open and US Amateur in the same year.
