DUSTIN JOHNSON | THE OPEN

Dustin Johnson revealed he is open to playing in the 2017 Scottish Open at Dundonald Links.

Speaking in his pre-Open press conference, the 32-year-old was asked about a whole host of different subjects – most of which were answered in true, short and sharp DJ fashion.

DJ on the Scottish Open

“Yeah, I’d consider it, for sure.”

DJ on being joint-favourite

“Honestly, I don’t care. I like my chances, but I go into every tournament liking my chances.”

DJ on whether he can win

“If I have my best stuff, I believe so.”

DJ on his Olympic withdrawal

“For me, it just came down to my family being more important. It was all family. Me and my team just sat down and I ultimately made the decision.”

DJ on whether he would’ve played if it was Tokyo

“Yeah. I mean, I wanted to go play, but just for me at the end of the day, me and Paulina, we’re going to have more kids. I know the risk is low, but if something were to happen, I’d never forgive myself.”

DJ on becoming world No.1

“Yeah, it’s definitely something I’d like to get to. I’ve still got a little way to go. Jason’s in front of me pretty well, so just got to keep putting myself into position to win golf tournaments and getting it done.”

DJ on level of attention

“I haven’t noticed. It doesn’t bother me at all. I get a lot more questions from you guys. That’s about it.”

DJ on if he ever feels stressed

“Yeah, but on the golf course, not really. It’s a game. I love playing it. Coming down the stretch, I definitely feel it because I want to win and it means a lot to me. I do get nerves or stress or whatever you want to call it, but I like it.”

DJ on US Women’s Open ruling

I didn’t see it. Obviously, when I got here quite a few people told me about it. It’s another unfortunate situation. But yeah, I shouldn’t talk about it.”
