European Tour stars and officials have come out in praise of Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community following the first staging of Qualifying School Final Stage at the leading Spanish resort.

A total of 156 players from around the world congregated on the Costa Daurada seeking European Tour playing privileges for 2018, with spots up for grabs for top 25 and ties after six rounds over Lumine’s stunning Lakes and Hills Courses.

After three rounds of both courses, England’s Sam Horsfield emerged as the worthy victor by an incredible margin of eight shots, carding 69, 68, 66, 68, 67 and 63 for a six-round total of 401.

Among the other notable recipients of their 2018 Tour Cards were seven-time European Tour winner, Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño, and veteran of more than 20 years on the top tier of European golf, Anders Hansen.

Of the resort’s week in the spotlight as home to one of the world golf’s most intriguing and dramatic events, Calle Carlsson, General Manager of Lumine, said: “It has been an honour to play host to the Final Stage of European Tour Qualifying School, where we have potentially witnessed the making of some of the European Tour’s stars of the future.

“We would like to thank all of the players and officials for their overwhelmingly positive feedback, which validates the hard work of our team and their preparations for such an important occasion.”

Kristoffer Broberg

“Credit where it’s due, both courses at Lumine have been brilliant this week. The greens have been running fast and true and they have been set-up immaculately for us. Off the course, it’s been great, and we’ve been really well taken care of by all of the staff.

“Q School is always a pretty tense week, so coming to a club where everything has been so well organised has really helped with the stress level and allowed me to concentrate on my golf, which has obviously paid off. For these reasons, it’s pretty obvious why The European Tour has decided to make Lumine the home of Q School.”

“Both the Lakes and Hills Courses have been in great condition this week and have provided us with a fair test of golf.

“Added to the quality of the practice facilities, the golf courses have made this the perfect venue for Q School and Lumine has done everything they could to make this an enjoyable experience for all of us. Well done to the whole team at Lumine for putting on such a great event.”

“It has been great to spend the week here at Lumine and I’m delighted to leave with my tour card in hand.

“This has been a really intense and challenging week but coming to a resort like Lumine, where we have two excellent golf courses and amazing practice facilities, has made it all the easier to concentrate on playing our best during such an important event.

“The team at Lumine definitely deserve lots of credit for the work they have done this week.”
