JAMIE DONALDSON

It looks like Jamie Donaldson hasn’t been able to put in much practice over the winter weeks as he prepares to set out on his 14th full season on the European Tour.

Why’s that you may ask? Well, if you looked at the Welshman’s Twitter account this morning, you’d find out all you needed to know.

He posted this:

The 2014 Ryder Cup hero, who has a plaque at Gleneagles from where he played that wedge shot, hasn’t played competitively since winning the Thailand Golf Championship in mid-December and, if his tweet is to be believed, he looks set to return to action at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in two-and-a-half weeks’ time.

Donaldson’s win in Thailand was vital as it secured his qualification for the 2016 majors as it lifted him back inside the world top 50, where he ended the year in 46th place.

Here’s hoping Donaldson can come back fit and well from what looks like a pretty gruesome injury, with qualification for the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine no doubt at the forefront of his mind this season.
