JORDAN SPIETH

World No.2 Jordan Spieth has insisted there will be no Masters hangover in the weeks ahead as he targets more success throughout the rest of the 2015 season.

The 21-year-old, who equalled the tournament record of 18-under par en route to his maiden major win at Augusta last weekend, returned to action immediately at the RBC Heritage, finishing T11.

And despite his performance at Harbour Town Golf Links ending a run of two wins and two runner-up finishes, Spieth is confident of completing more of his goals and won’t let up after lifting the burden of securing his first major title.

“I’ve got to work hard to accomplish the rest of the goals for the year” – Jordan Spieth

“There’s going to be no Masters hangover,” Jordan Spieth said. “I’ve got to work hard to accomplish the rest of the goals for the year. This was a tremendous six weeks that just happened and arguably the best six weeks of my life. So maybe I’ll look to improve on it.

“I’m not going to sit there and stop practicing or stop working and party or anything. I know I have to get out and get back to work because we’ve got two big events and then the US Open in a place that I’m familiar with. So I’m excited. I’m excited for the opportunity this year and there’s still a lot of goals to achieve.”

Spieth arrived at Hilton Head less than two days before the start of the RBC Heritage after a whirlwind trip to New York with the green jacket and after opening with a three-over par round of 74, Spieth rocketed up the leaderboard on Friday with a nine-under 62.

He ended up eight shots behind Jim Furyk and Kevin Kisner, with the former going on to win the play-off, and although he didn’t prepare for the event in the best possible way, Spieth declared himself content with his performance but is now looking forward to some time back home.

“It was interesting,” Jordan Spieth said. “It was kind of a weird event. I was streaky, up and down. But all in all, just looking back now on these four weeks, it was incredible. I’m happy I came here and I had a great experience as always. Now I’m looking forward to a little bit of rest.

“I probably won’t touch a club for a few days. I’m going to kind of settle in at home and then get ready for the Match Play and Players. I’ll find a good line of getting enough rest and rebound.”
