Mercedes-Benz launch innovative golf car

Is this the coolest, most innovative thing to ever happen to golf transportation? Mercedes-Benz believe so – and it’s difficult to argue.

As part of Mercedez-Benz’s role as Official Patron of the Open Championship, what better place to launch the Style Edition Garia Golf Car than Royal Troon!

Mercedes-Benz believe they have tapped into an area where there has been ‘no evolutionary process at all’ for this golf car, which has a top speed of 30kph and a range of 80km.

It has an electric motor with a lithium-ion battery, which takes six hours to charge, while it is incredibly compact measuring 2.35m x 1.2m x 1.72m.

There’s also a refrigerator under the bench seat, a stowage tray under the dashboard that holds golf balls, while an integrated onboard touchpad shows remaining range, vehicle speed and current power consumption or parking brake status.

Many functions can be controlled at the touch of a finger, such as driving mode, the headlamps, windscreen heater, and wipers, while a hands-free system with Bluetooth and hi-fi speakers means occupants can listen to music from their smartphone.
