Sally Watson shares the lead at the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters with round two already underway.

Temperatures soared yesterday at Buckinghamshire Golf Club, and as the sun shone so did the Scottish Internationalist.

Watson, who will turn 23 next week, birdied the last two holes to join the leaders, a great recovery after opening up with two bogeys.

“It was great to have my dad on the bag.” – Sally Watson

“I didn’t get off to a great start as I bogeyed the first two holes but I did a great job of staying positive and focused,” she said.

“Then I had a birdie on the third, which helped and I started to give myself lots of good chances. It was great to have my dad on the bag because he’s really good in the wind.”

Sally Watson teed off for her second round at 8:28 this morning. The Scot is one-under after two and looks to be in the mood to build on her great start.

Alongside Sally Watson

Australian Sarah Kemp is level with Watson in the early stages of round two in only her first year as a professional. Yesterday she hit a bogey-free round of 67, today she’s two-under through nine.

“It’s one of my favourite courses to play in the UK.”

“It was nice and solid. I didn’t have a bogey, hit 15 greens and made a few good putt,” said the Aussie.

“It was a good back nine and a nice birdie at the last. I really like the course. You’ve got chances on the par fives, to take your opportunity and some of them you can hit in two. It’s one of my favourite courses to play in the UK. It’s perfect.”

Sally Watson and the Scottish charge

Joining Sally Watson in the top ten at the Ladies European Masters are Pamela Prestwell and Vikki Laing. Both women are three-under, with Prestwell one-under after six into round two. Laing has a later tee time of 1:02pm today, but her 69 yesterday leaves her well placed to keep her top-ten position.
