Welcome to this week’s Social Eyes. We’ll start with the big news of the week. No Tiger.
While his withdrawal from the Safeway Open was a blow to the vast majority of the golfing world, for PGA Tour player Max Homa, it meant he got a place in the event.
He summed his feelings up with this perfect tweet.
Thanks Tigers. Next time we hang out, dinner's on me. Get back out here soon plz.
Sincerely,
Your biggest fan— max homa (@maxhoma23) October 10, 2016
It also means the media centre at Silverado Resort may not be as full as anticipated…
Probably going to be a few empty seats at Silverado. pic.twitter.com/M4AxG4Sdr3

Tiger Woods withdrawal Monday from the Safeway Open will undoubtedly mean more space for… https://t.co/ru2aNG6Isc pic.twitter.com/Hg6SIyhwIO

Aussie Steven Bowditch, who made just three cuts in his last 18 events of the 2016 season, offered to help Woods rediscover his confidence… by playing a practice round with him.
Don't wd tiger!! Come play a couple of practice rounds with me.. Your confidence will go through the roof!! https://t.co/oAIOR2NOc5

But, above all, there was sadness and disappointment.
Shame to see #tigerwoods has withdrawn we all want to see back ASAP! #TheGreatest

However, there is one man making an injury comeback this week. Ian Poulter.
But the Englishman has received a fair bit of stick for opting for the Macau Open on the Asian Tour over the European Tour’s British Masters – a tournament he hosted last year.
Why is Ian Poulter buggering off to play in Asia when he should be supporting the British Masters. #moneymoneymoney …. #itsarichmansgame

Great to see poultool supporting British golf… he made such a fuss of it last year but not interested now #plonker https://t.co/qAGQmfelNC

Two weeks on from the Ryder Cup, Dustin Johnson showed he’s still winning on holiday in Mexico…
And that continued even when he returned, after being named the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year.
Honored to accept this trophy from Mr. Nicklaus, golf's greatest champion! #POY16 pic.twitter.com/17JhhEJhE1

A little over two years ago, Greg Norman almost lost his hand in a chainsaw accident.
And, in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, he was forced to pull out his old nemesis once more to clear his driveway.
And finally…
Eddie Pepperell, who explained to bunkered.co.uk back in July why he’d quit Twitter, has returned to the social media platform.
He can be found at @PepperellEddie and is already producing some cracking tweets, including this…
