Stephen Gallacher has been given a huge boost as he prepares to make his Masters debut, becoming an ambassador for ‘golf in DUBAi’.

The three-time European Tour winner has put pen to paper on a three-year deal which is a reward for his outstanding performances in the UAE. He joins the likes of Mark O’Meara, Jeev Milkha Singh, and Laura Davies in joining the golf in DUBAi roster.

The Ryder Cup hopeful became the first golfer to successfully defend the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this year in what was the 25th anniversary of the prestigious event and, naturally, is delighted by the new deal.

“I love Dubai, I love the tournament and it will be a great honour and privilege to be a part of the golf in DUBAi team that has done a tremendous job in raising the profile of this brilliant city on the global stage,” said Gallacher.

Stephen Gallacher is fast becoming an influential figure in the world of golf” – Mohamed Juma Buamaim

“What’s happening out here in the UAE and certainly in Dubai is just so impressive to see. From my experience, Dubai is one of our favourite stops on the European Tour.”

Welcoming Gallcher to the ‘golf in DUBAi’ family of global ambassadors, Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi, commented: “Stephen Gallacher is a fine player whose on-course performance creates a lot of excitement. Like everyone, we are really impressed by his outstanding golf talent, dedication and natural flair.

“He is fast becoming an influential figure in the world of golf and his constant quest for high performance is in line with Dubai’s vision of making the city the hub for all things golf. Indeed, we are honoured to have him on board.”

The announcement is perfectly timed, with the Scot set to make his first appearance at Augusta National next week, as he continues his bid to make the European Ryder Cup team for this year’s match at Gleneagles.
