Sned for heights

Get this: since January 2011, only Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have won more PGA Tour events than AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am champ Brandt Snedeker. He’s now up to 31st in the world and has booked his place in the Masters. Good news, too, considering he likes Augusta National. He was third there in 2008 and sixth in 2013.

DJ’s favourite tracks

Dustin Johnson must wish the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was every week. His record there over the last eight years…

Tiger’s slide continues

Another week, another tumble down the world rankings for Tiger Woods. He’s now 66th, one place below Kevin Streelman and one ahead of Koumei Oda.

If he doesn’t get back playing and start climbing the rankings soon, he could struggle to qualify for any of the World Golf Championships this season – incredible when you consider he’s won those events a combined 18 times…

Eurozone crisis

India this week, Thailand last week, Malaysia the week before… when exactly will the European Tour arrive in Europe? Answer: the middle of March, 14 tournaments into the new season. In total, 27 of the 47 tournaments on the tour’s schedule this season will take place outside of Europe.

It’s been said before but when will the tour change its name to more accurately reflect its global coverage? It has a bigger identity crisis than Jason Bourne.

Must Thai harder…

Paopong Pinprayong had a week to forget in the Thailand Classic. He followed up his 12-over-par opening round of 84 with a six-over 78 in round two to finished dead last on 18-over. His card included two doubles, two trebles, and a quadruple. Ouch!

Peter? Paul? Whatever!

Either Colin Montgomerie has started moonlighting as a social media copywriter for the BBC or we’re starting to see part of the reason why the Open is going to Sky…
