• He’ll play the Genesis Open at Riviera from February 16-19

TIGER WOODS | PGA TOUR

Tiger Woods has committed to his first event of 2017, announcing that he’ll be playing in the Genesis Open.

Taking place from February 16-19 at Riviera Country Club, the Genesis Open is hosted by the TGR Live, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation, and marks the 14-time major champion’s first appearance at the tournament since 2006.

“This is where it all started for me”

“I’m very excited to come back to Riviera and compete in the Genesis Open,” said Woods.

“This is where it all started for me. It was my first PGA Tour event. I was 16-years-old, I weighed about 105 pounds. It was a life-changing moment for me.”

In March, the Tiger Woods Foundation, the PGA Tour and Genesis announced a partnership under which TGR Live would manage the tournament at Riviera.

“It’s an honour to have TGR Live running this historic event that will benefit my foundation,” Woods added.

Woods returned to competitive golf this month for the first time since August 2015, finishing four-under par and T15 in the 18-player Hero World Challenge.

He has not announced his 2017 playing schedule aside from the Genesis Open yet, but there are strong rumours he could be set for a trip to the Middle East in January for the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
