WALKER CUP

Tickets for the 2015 Walker Cup match at Royal Lytham & St Annes from September 12-13 are now on sale.

The 45th Walker Cup will see the Great Britain and Ireland team looking to win back the trophy after the USA’s convincing 17-9 victory in the 2013 match at the National Golf Links of America in Southampton, New York.

On each day of competition, there will be four morning foursome matches, followed by afternoon singles matches. On Saturday, there will be eight singles matches, and on Sunday all ten players from each side will feature in the afternoon.

Royal Lytham has a strong association with amateur golf and welcomes leading amateurs to its historic links each year for the Lytham Trophy. The club has also hosted four Amateur Championships and was the venue for amateur Bobby Jones’ first Open victory in 1926.

It has hosted the Open on a further ten occasions, most recently in 2012 when Ernie Els lifted the Claret Jug, and also staged the Ryder Cup in 1961 and 1977.
