The PGA Tour was established in 1929. It took 48 years for the first sub-60 round to be recorded on it. The man responsible? Al Geiberger. The winner of the US PGA Championship 11 years prior, Geiberger converted an eight-foot birdie putt on the final hole of his second round at Colonial to enter the game’s history books. He went on to win that week.
