Tiger Woods is unlikely to play more than three times between now and the end of the season.

The world No.1, who clinched the winning point for the USA in the Presidents Cup at the weekend, next scheduled appearance is in an exhibition match with Rory McIlroy in China – a repeat of a duels starring Woods and the Northern Irishman last year.

Woods will then play the Turkish Airlines Open, the penultimate event on the Race To Dubai, before rounding off his 2013 campaign at the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge in December, an event that he hosts.

Despite failing to win a major for the fifth straight year, Woods has had a broadly successful season, winning five times. Those wins included two World Golf Championships – taking Woods’ haul in those particular events to 18 – whilst he also won the Players Championship at Sawgrass, an event and a venue where he has struggled over the past few years.

“ is to do a little bit better in major championships.”

Those victories helped the 37-year-old claim the PGA Tour ‘Player of the Year’ award for an 11th time.

“It’s been an incredible year to have won five times and two of those World Golf Championships and one Players,” explained Woods. “It’s been just a fantastic year all around. It’s also an incredible feeling to be voted by your peers and to have that type of respect is something that’s very humbling.

Whilst cautious about setting too many goals for next season, he added that ending a major drought, which stretches back to the 2008 US Open, is high on his list of priorities.

“ is to do a little bit better in major championships,” said Woods, a winner of golf’s biggest events on no fewer than 14 occasions. “I’ve put myself there with a chance on the back nine on two of them, and wish I could have done it on all four. But the same goal each and every year is to win at every event I tee it up in. That doesn’t change. That’s been my goal since I turned pro back in ’96. I’ve had a decent winning percentage, but I sure would like to improve on that.”
