4. Jose Maria Olazabal (1987)
Aged only 21, Olazabal was summoned by Tony Jacklin as Europe ended a sixty-year wait for a Ryder Cup victory on US soil. Teaming up with fellow Spaniard Seve Ballesteros, the duo won in the first three sessions to help Europe open up an 8.5-3.5 lead and, despite Olazabal rounding out with two defeats, it signalled the start of a formidable partnership that would continue for the next three matches. Record: 3-2-0.
