Heading to Ireland for a golf break in 2018? You could do with checking out the new state-of-the-art Paul McGinley Golf Academy at Mount Juliet.

The new Academy was opened by the 2014 Ryder Cup-winning captain as recently as September, with McGinley helping to redesign what was already there as well as reconfiguring and updating the facilities to create a specific coaching and fitting centre.

As a result, the new Academy gives Mount Juliet a newly sculpted 15-acre driving range, which replicates all golf course shots – including full length fairways – providing draw and fade shots.

Facilities also include two putting greens and a short game area, while the Academy is using the most advanced teaching software – the Trackman 4e – to allow all aspects of the game to be developed and taught.

All instruction is based around McGinley’s playing philosophy and the instructors chosen are selected and trained by the McGinley team, while a new swing room offers custom-fitting from brands including TaylorMade, Callaway and Vega.

“The Paul McGinley Academy is a magnificent facility that enhances our already excellent golf offering here,” said Matt Sandercock, the new Director of Golf at Mount Juliet.

“Our Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course is consistently recognised as one of Ireland’s finest parkland courses and working with Paul is a perfect fit. We know he will bring a huge amount to Mount Juliet and we are really pleased to offer these additional amenities to our Club members and all visiting golfers.”

McGinley added: “Mount Juliet Estate has long been a top golfing destination on the world stage of golf.

“With the magnificent Jack Nicklaus Signature Course on the Estate and my newly designed range – sculpted to provide every shot in the golf bag – it gives a fantastic opportunity for golfers to develop their skills at the Academy or complete quality practice before going out to play.”

The latest initiative represents an investment of €4.5m in total spend on all golf facilities/course and the Paul McGinley Golf Academy at Mount Juliet Estate.
