WRITE STUFF WINNER

by Paul Edmond, aged 12

Ahhhhh... Another golfing year gone and, this year, both The Masters and The Open provided a truly spectacular show for everyone, Zach Johnson winning The Masters and Padraig Harrington snatching The Open. But which of the two tournaments is best?

Both competitions use great courses which always prove a challenge and, hey, I love Augusta National but sometimes playing the same course over and over, well, it gets boring.

As for The Open, they always seen to surprise us with their course selection, such as this year with Carnoustie, which was a toughie for all golfers (not to mention the spectators) having to tackle the rough and rugged terrain!

The Open is known for exposing great new talent which I think is brilliant and, let’s face it, The Masters just speaks for itself with the exception of a few amateurs. The Open also sometimes gives the chance for Scottish golfing fans to be there at the event as, with The Masters, you would have to fly to America, which let’s be honest, is not cheap.

Combine the flight with ticket expenses and accommodation and you’ve got one very broke man with a very unhappy wife because she couldn’t get those Italian leather boots she wanted! So, in my opinion stick, with The Open and back British golf all the way!
