LA MANGA CLUB

Gordon Strachan and Kenny Dalglish will front a week-long family sporting extravaganza at La Manga Club this summer to help Spain’s flagship resort raise thousands of Euros for under-privileged children in South America.

Among many activities, Scotland manager Gordon Strachan and ex-Liverpool star Dalglish will take charge of two sides in a charity junior football match on August 2, with all the proceeds going to the Alda Foundation – which helps educate poor youngsters in Paraguay.

Costing €100 per player, any boys and girls aged 12 and over can take part, with each participant receiving a certificate, picture, gold or silver medal and personalised shirt for the team they are playing for – either Strachan’s or Dalglish’s.

The game is just one of a number of charity family activities that will be staged at La Manga Club from July 31 to August 5 as part of the award-winning venue’s Alda Charity Week.

Golfers of all ages can join in the fun at a family golf day on August 3, including the chance to play for top prizes in a shotgun adult/child pairs competition on La Manga Club’s famous North Course. Entry costs €50 per adult and €20 per junior.

The week of fundraising activities, which also includes a tennis tournament on July 31, will be brought to a spectacular climax on August 5 with a glittering Alda gala dinner, where 250 people will enjoy a moonlit gala dinner, live music, and a charity raffle and auction.

The Alda Charity Week will embellish an Olympian menu of activities and choice available to families when they take a holiday at La Manga Club this summer.

Included in these are the resort’s popular White Night evenings on July 22 and August 12, where guests have the chance to experience the spirit of Ibiza with moonlit beach dinner parties at the resort’s own Mediterranean cove with live cooking stations, cocktails, and chill-out DJ sets.

The resort will also host the FC Barcelona Football Junior Club Camp from July 25-29, the Michael Owen Rugby Academy at the start of August, while it will continue to offer a wide range of sporting academies for guests to enjoy – including tuition packages at the world-renowned tennis centre and Leadbetter Golf Academy.

Visitors can stay in a choice of the resort’s four-star Las Lomas self-catering apartments or five-star Principe Felipe Hotel, while La Manga Club offers more than 20 bars and restaurants and its own Mediterranean cove beach.
