If you could build a set of irons, you’d probably make them with the performance of a game improvement club, but the looks of something sleeker. That’s exactly what legendary brand Ben Hogan is setting out to do.

The brand named in honour of the nine-time major champion has launched their Legend irons, which aim to help golfers hit more solid shots, without bringing the sometimes unsightly looks of game improvement irons.

In the looks department, the Ben Hogan Legend irons impress. These irons are compact and clean, with a streamlined shape particularly behind the ball, that still inspires confidence.

Of course, looking the part is all well and good, these irons need to perform well too. Thankfully, they feature plenty of technology that will help you get the most from your clubs.

Firstly, there’s the foam-injected hollow head on these irons, which is a first for the brand. Hogan’s design team employed this technology to redistribute discretionary mass, maximise stability and optimise launch conditions for every iron.

Essentially, this means that if and when you miss the middle of the face, you’re still going to see a solid shot, which wouldn’t always be the case with an iron carrying this look.

Also in play in these irons is the versatile V-Sole. This is a high bounce design, where the leading edge will resist digging into the turf, no matter the lie you find yourself in.

What also stands out here is the price of the Ben Hogan Legend Irons. Coming in at £799 for a set from 5-iron to pitching wedge, or £899 for a set from 4-iron to pitching wedge, these clubs certainly compete on the pricing front in a competitive market.

Unlike some models at this price range, these irons are built with a selection of premium after-market shafts and grips available, so you can dial them into your spec.
