In a game where long hitting is becoming such a focus, it can be easy to forget about the importance of the other end of the golf bag. No matter how well you drive the ball, if you can’t get the ball in the hole, you’re never going to win. To do that, you need skill, but it helps to have the right putter in your hands. So, what putters do the best players in the world use?

If you’re using a club that isn’t right for you, whether that’s in size, shape, loft, lie, or a combination of several things, you’re going to struggle to hole many putts.

For some of us, the option of every putter under the sun isn’t viable. But, for the best in the world, there’s a pretty endless list of clubs they can pick from.

• The drivers used by the longest hitters in professional golf

• Stock yardages: How far does Nelly Korda hit each club?

That got us thinking, what putters do those who are the best on the greens use? To find out, we took a look at the LIV Golf League, PGA Tour and DP World Tour’s best putters, to see what each tour’s best putters have in the bag.

To do that, we looked at the Strokes Gained metric on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, while we looked at LIV Golf’s Putting Average stat.

Strokes Gained is the more accurate way to measure a golfer’s skill on the greens, but Putting Average still gives us a good idea of who is performing well with the flatstick.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the best putters on each tour, and what they have in the bag.

Louis Oosthuizen – Ping PLD Voss Custom

Taylor Pendrith – Odyssey Jailbird

Xander Schauffele – Odyssey Toulon Design Las Vegas 7CH

DP World Tour – Strokes Gained Putting Leaders

Thriston Lawrence – Ping PLD Oslo 4

Billy Horschel – Ping Sigma2 Tyne 4

Gavin Green – Odyssey Ai-One Jailbird

Thorbjorn Olesen – TaylorMade TP Reserve B11

Min Woo Lee – Odyssey Ai-One No.7

Harry Hall – Odyssey O Works 1 Wide

Benjamin Follett-Smith – Odyssey Ai-One Jailbird

Joaquin Niemann – Ping PLD Anser

Thomas Aiken – Scotty Cameron Newport

Jamie Donaldson – Odyssey White Hot Sabertooth

So, there you have it. It’s no real surprise to see plenty of Odyssey (Ten) and Scotty Cameron (8) models in this list, but there’s some other interesting findings too.

Plenty of the best putters on tour rely on older models, with some of the putters staying in the bag for a long time. Proof that even if it’s not pretty, if it gets the ball in the hole and suits the eye of the player, then it’s hard to beat.
