If you’re a golfer who wants to keep playing through the cold winter months, you’ll need a pair of shoes that cater to your needs.

While we all like our shoes to look great, sometimes, it’s more important to make sure you’ve got a pair of golf shoes that can keep the rain out and stop you slipping in tough conditions.

Of course, in a pair of golf shoes for the winter, you want something that does everything. Stability is important, but you also want shoes that are going to be comfortable, as well as durable in poor weather.

If you wear a pair of light, spikeless shoes on the course in the summer, you might not want to take them out when the course can be muddy and treacherous underfoot.

So, what are the best winter golf shoes you can buy in 2024? We’ve put together a list of some of our favourites to help you out when it comes to buying your next pair.

Adidas Tour 360
Three stripes on your golf shoes looks quality, and they're brilliant too

PROS

  • Iconic sporty looks
  • Premium quality leather throughout the shoe
  • Impressive spiked technology

CONS

  • Leather needs careful looking after to avoid bunching
Available for £160 from Adidas

First up on our alphabetical list is the Adidas Tour 360 shoes. The Tour 360 shoes have been around for nearly two decades, but the latest version is the best yet. If you’re looking for golf shoes that will serve you well over the winter months, these are a safe bet. They’re comfortable, stable and deliver great traction.

That top performance is thanks to an impressive design from Adidas. That’s no surprise from the sports footwear specialists and the quality in these shoes is clear to see from. They’ve been designed with fit, performance and, crucially for the winter months, durability in mind. These are a robust pair of golf shoes, made from premium materials, which will perform well in rough conditions and better weather. The new torsion bridge is a key piece of tech, which keeps your feet stable and allows you to produce as much force in your swing as possible.

All in all, these are stylish shoes which are ideal for when underfoot conditions are poor. These also come in a black colourway with white stripes, which is a bonus for when you’re out in muddy conditions on the course.

Duca del Cosma Bernardo
A new winter ready colour for some of the best tour style shoes on the market

PROS

  • Premium quality Italian Nappa Leather
  • Attention to detail in the design is second to none
  • Spiked design is great for the winter months

CONS

  • Pricey
Available for £249 from Duca del Cosma

Next up is a stylish option from Duca del Cosma, the Bernardo shoes. These are the latest from the brand that specialises in making top quality, premium, tour ready golf shoes. While you might have seen these in a stunning white colourway before, they’re now available in black, which makes for a perfect winter option on the course.

The Bernardo shoes are made from premium quality Nappa leather and feature comfortable and breathable Arneflex memory foam insert soles. High quality leather is going to make these durable, important when you’re taking on the worst of the conditions. As well as that, the Soft Spikes Pulsar system helps to keep your feet secure on the ground while you’re swinging, or while you’re walking over some tricky underfoot terrain.

As winter golf shoes go, it’s going to be hard to beat these. They offer great grip on the course, look the part, and can still do the job when summer comes around.

Ecco Biom G5 image
Ecco Biom G5
Futuristic design from Ecco which is perfect for battling the elements

PROS

  • Impressive spike system for maximum grip
  • Gore-Tex surround makes these brilliant to beat the bad weather
  • Out of the box comfort which you would expect from Ecco

CONS

  • Some might prefer different styles in this list
Available for £230 from Ecco

It’s hard to fault the quality of Ecco golf shoes, and if you want a pair that will perform well in the off-season, then your best bet is the Biom G5. A spiked shoe, these will give you that extra layer of confidence when ground conditions aren’t the easiest the navigate.
As you would expect from Ecco, these are fitted with Gore-Tex, something which can be a huge help when the weather is rough outside. These are essentially a bombproof pair of shoes that offer great levels of waterproofness, without restricting movement or breathability. The spikes on these shoes are positioned on the perimeter of the sole, which will help with stability and traction control.
These are packed with technology and are properly sturdy shoes. If that’s what you need on your feet in winter, then look no further.

FootJoy Pro SLX Carbon image
FootJoy Pro SLX Carbon
Some of the best golf shoes you can buy this year

PROS

  • Out of the box comfort
  • Impressive traction and grip despite being the only spikeless model on this list
  • The all black colourway is perfect for winter

CONS

  • Some of the new styling might not appeal to those who liked the old Pro SL shoes
Available for £189.99 from FootJoy

We would happily wear these shoes all year round, but in winter, they will really come into their own. Made with traction in mind, these are the only spikeless shoes in this list, but that doesn’t put us off recommending them for winter golf.

The design on the bottom of these shoes takes inspiration from race cars, in order to deliver maximum stability and traction. Energy from your swing will be redistributed to the perimeter of your feet, which increases the overall levels of traction. Another aspect where these shoes perform well is in the stability department, and the addition of carbon in the heel is a big help in this. This really helps to lock in your ankle and heel during the round, not just your swing, which is a big help when you’re traversing slippery conditions.

Although these aren’t spiked shoes, they still perform incredibly well in bad conditions on the course, something which you would expect from FootJoy. The Race Track outsole is well equipped for the worst weather, while the all black colourway is the perfect look for when things get muddy.

FootJoy Premiere Series image
FootJoy Premiere Series
The quintessential looking golf shoe, designed for the serious player who values style

PROS

  • Classic styling
  • 2024 spiked range is perfect for playing when underfoot conditions aren't the best
  • Stability is second to none

CONS

  • Some will prefer a softer feeling shoe
Available for £189.99 from FootJoy

We usually wouldn’t include two shoes from one brand in these buying guides, but it would be remiss to exclude the FootJoy Premiere Series shoes from this list. As of 2024, these shoes are made exclusively with spikes, perfect for the serious golfer who wants top performance on the course.

Of course, when it comes to looks, it’s hard to beat the Premiere Series, especially if you’re someone who likes a classic style to their golf shoes. But, there’s much more to them than that. The premium full grain leather upper will last a long time and keep your feet protected from wind and rain. On the bottom of these shoes, the Versa Trax Traction Technology is an impressive design that keeps your feet planted throughout the swing.

These are sturdy and classically styled shoes that will have you looking like a tour pro. Again, the all black colourway in the Wilcox model is ideal if you’re worried about getting fresh white shoes dirty.

G/Fore Gallivan2r G/Lock
Super stylish shoes that will massage your feet as you walk the fairways

PROS

  • Abundance of styles to pick from
  • Out of the box comfort thanks to the insoles which massage your feet as you walk
  • Easy to clean which is a bonus in the bad weather

CONS

  • Difficult to find fault
Available for £160 from G/Fore

Playing golf in the winter doesn’t mean you can’t wear good looking shoes, and the G/Fore Gallivan2r proves that. The G/Fore brand is a growing one in the golf shoe space, and their products are impressive. One of their latest products is the Gallivan2r G/Lock, which comes with spikes for added traction, perfect for winter.

The first thing you’ll notice about these shoes is the insole, which is designed to massage your feet as you walk down the fairways. It might feel alien at first but once you get on the course, it’s a great addition to your shoes. The TPU leather upper on these shoes is very durable, ideal for golfers who play a lot in the bad weather. This leather is also very easy to clean, so you don’t need to worry about winter mud.

These are by no means shoes designed specifically for winter, but they make a great job of protecting your feet and, with the new spiked design, giving you traction on the course.

Under Armour Drive Pro
Golf shoes that help you to hit the ball further are never a bad thing

PROS

  • Sporty style looks the part
  • Impressive technology is noticeable as soon as you open the box
  • Proven to help you hit better shots

CONS

  • We'll let you know when we find one
Available for £150 from Under Armour

There’s no doubt that the latest golf shoes from Under Armour are some of the best all rounders of 2024. Our Gear Editor, James Tait, wears them to compete in World Long Drive competitions, which is testament to their quality.

But, for us mere mortals, they’re also great for getting out on the course in winter. Under Armour’s Swing Support System provides brilliant traction on the golf course, which can help you get the most out of your swing. We also like the micro fibre upper, which is fully waterproof, but also breathable, for comfort on the course. We’ve found the spike system on these to be very advanced, something valuable all year round.

If you want the full lowdown on these shoes from James, then you can click here, but rest assured these are top quality. Every last piece of detail in design has gone into these shoes, they really can help you to play better golf. Certainly some of the best winter golf shoes of 2024.

Puma Phantomcat Nitro
Puma Phantomcat Nitro
These irons are great for a player who struggles with their ball striking

PROS

  • Nitrogen infused foam makes for great energy return through the swing
  • The new traction design could probably help you climb a mountain, so the golf course shouldn't be an issue
  • New toe box gives great comfort

CONS

  • Some will prefer a more traditional look
Available for £130 from Puma

A colourful option – expect anything different? - from Puma, which we’re big fans of. If you’re investing in a pair of Puma golf shoes for the poorer weather, then you’ll probably want to opt for some of these, which are equipped with some of the most aggressive spikes we’ve seen.

The innovative flex spike system really will ensure you’ve got a solid footing on the course. These are made to increase your surface contact with the ground, something which you certainly want at this time of year. It’s not just the spikes though, as these shoes feature a full grain leather upper which will be durable in the winter, while the nitrogen infused foam in the heel makes these super comfortable.

We love these shoes and they make a great and durable option throughout the year. While we love the bright style available, you can opt for a more winter-friendly black colourway, which might suit the darker months.

Credit: Payntr
Payntr X 004 RS
Payntr X 004 RS
A brand on the up that makes very comfortable golf shoes

PROS

  • Comfort is at the heart of the design
  • Ventilated design is clever and keeps your feet fresh
  • Solid traction control underfoot

CONS

  • Moulded heel might be better suited to summer
Available for £169.99 from Payntr

Last but not least, Payntr, who are making some very cool golf shoes right now, have plenty choices and we particularly like the 004 RS model. Payntr started off by making cricket shoes, so comfort is at the heart of their ethos.

Comfort is all well and good, but these also provide top support. The carbon fibre propulsion plate helps to produce energy through your swing, without hindering how they feel. On the soles of these, Tour Flex Pro Spikes give excellent traction and ten points of contact to the ground. That makes for great stability while hitting shots, but also helps keep you upright when you’re walking in slippy conditions. These are also ventilated to help allow perspiration to escape, keeping your feet fresh.

Payntr might not be a brand you’re familiar with, but if you’re looking for something different on the golf course, then we’d really recommend you get a pair on your feet.
