One normal day of Bryson DeChambeau. That’s all we’re asking for. Today, however, is not that day, as the golf scientist has announced that he’s working on designing a new driver with LA Golf.

In his pre-Open press conference, the US Open champion teased that he had something in the works, saying that he hopes this driver can be put in play by professionals and amateur golfers around the world.

Things were pretty cryptic when he spoke to the press, but we got a few more details this afternoon, as LA Golf, a brand best known for making super premium putters and shafts, announced they now have a driver in the works.

And Bryson is helping to design it.

“Bryson came to me about a year ago and said: ‘I figured something out and I know I’m right about this, do you want to build a driver?’” said Reed Dickens, the founder of LA Golf.

“I said, ‘Of course I do.’ So, we went all in to design Bryson the perfect driver. Now I’m excited to announce, Bryson’s technology is coming to you in 2025, so stay tuned, you’ll be learning a lot more about the biggest innovation in drivers in decades.”

In a statement posted along with the video, the brand says that for decades, drivers have been built with a one-size fits all approach.

Now, they say, those days are over. It goes onto say that they’ve designed the first driver where the face and shaft will fit your golf swing. How that all happens is yet to be seen, but it’s certainly intriguing.

How much will Bryson DeChambeau’s LA Golf driver cost?

While we don’t have any official details on pricing yet, if the rest of LA Golf’s range is anything to go by, then we’re not expecting this to be done on a budget.

The brand is best known for making putters, with their Bel Air model one of the more popular. That club retails at £499.

What will Bryson DeChambeau’s LA Golf driver look like?

If Bryson’s current favoured driver is anything to go by, then we could be in for an interesting design with this LA Golf offering.

DeChambeau uses a Krank driver, which is made with long drive in mind. We certainly know that wouldn’t be suitable for most amateur players, partly due to the head’s shape, but also thanks to the measly six degrees of loft it boasts.

However, judging by Bryson saying this won’t just be built for him, but it will be built for the individual, suggests this will be slightly more user friendly.

“Building a piece of equipment that works for that individual is incredibly important, and that’s what I’ve personally realised, and I hope to transition over to the public golfer,” DeChambeau said in his press conference.

“We’re working on that. It should be soon, should be sometime soon.”

For now, we’ll need to wait and see what tricks Bryson has up his sleeve.
