Along with their flagship range of Apex Ai range, Callaway has had some fun with another release, the Apex Ti Fusion irons.

The Apex Ti Fusion – pronounced Thai Fusion – range is, Callaway say, something of a concept club, but it’s very much real and will offer you fantastic levels of performance.

As you can see, this iron is absolutely stunning. That’s thanks, largely, to the premium DLC finish. DLC, in this instance, stands for Diamond Like Coating, and that provides a durable and premium look.

When your irons are made to look like they are coated in diamonds, you know you’ve got something special.

This iron is made with a combination of titanium and steel, something not easy for Callaway’s engineers to combine. Historically, merging titanium and steel has been a no-go in golf club manufacturing, but Callaway have pulled out all the stops to make it happen here.

That’s because with titanium, you’re going to get high launch and high spin, while with forged steel, you’re going to get superior feel.

Their brazed titanium structure allows these clubs to feature the speed of a titanium face, while keeping the exceptional feel of a steel forged head.

All this combines to create a club with “unimaginable feel,” in an iron that gives consistency of a blade but forgiveness of a two-piece club.

No other iron combines these performance materials, Callaway say, into what they’ve done in the Apex Ti Fusion.

Now, usually, clubs that follow this script, don’t tend to go in many bags. Concept clubs, as you might call them, are generally made to look good, without troubling the set-ups of serious players.

But, Callaway think that for those with deep pockets and big ambitions for their golf games, these could be serious contenders. Generally, this sort of club is aimed at the higher handicapper, but that’s not the case here.

Callaway liken the forgiveness level of the Ti Fusion irons to that of the Apex Pro, something aimed at mid-to-low handicap players.

If you’re still here, you’ll want to know the all important price tag, and it is a lot.

For a full set, you’ll be paying £1999, which is nearly double that of the Apex Ai200 and Apex Ai300 range.

But, if you want irons that tell a pretty wild story, and will be the real deal in terms of performance too, then it will be money well spent.
