Which Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball should you be using? The range has three options, which all offer slightly different performance benefits. Here's the details.

Choosing a golf ball can be overwhelming as there are so many to pick from. One great range is the Callaway Chrome Tour, which has recently had some new additions.

The Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball range has three different options, which differ in multiple ways. But which Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball is for you?

We put them head-to-head to make it easier for you to decide.

Callaway Chrome Tour
Ideal if you want a soft, low penetrating golf ball with high greenside spin

PROS

  • Low and penetrating ball flight
  • High spin and great control around the greens
  • Soft in feel will suit some
  • Long off the tee

CONS

  • Not as high spinning as the Chrome Tour X
Available for £55 from Callaway

The Callaway Chrome Tour ball is the new gold standard in tour balls for Callaway. Every detail in the new ball has been optimised to give you the best overall performance and that's a positive for you, the golfer. This is a brilliant all-rounder.
The Hyper Fast Soft Core produces exceptionally fast ball speed for long distance shots, with added consistency via the new Seamless Tour Aero design.
The high-performance Tour Urethane Soft Cover delivers excellent greenside control and feel.
Chrome Tour offers players a medium feel ball, with low long game spin, high short game spin, and high workability.

Callaway Chrome Tour X
The highest spinning option in the Chrome Tour range around the green

PROS

  • Max spin and control around the green
  • Fast ball speeds and great distance
  • Firm in feel

CONS

  • With it being firm in feel, you wouldn't expect it to spin as much, so it takes some getting used to
Available for £55 from Callaway

I’m going to sound like a broken record here but the Callaway Chrome Tour X also features the Hyper Fast Soft Core designed to produce maximum ball speed for long distance, with the Seamless Tour Aero. This helps to generate a consistent flight on each strike. The High-Performance Tour Urethane Soft Cover allows for maximum control on the green.
The Chrome Tour X is a medium-firm feel ball, which sets it apart from the regular Chrome Tour, with mid-levels of long game spin, maximum short game spin, with high workability.

Callaway Chrome Tour TD image
Callaway Chrome Tour TD
Perfect for the fast speed player who wants less spin off the tee and max speed

PROS

  • Firm in feel
  • Low launching and low spinning
  • Fast ball speeds
  • Great distances

CONS

  • Won't be the best option for slower swing speeds
Available for £55 from Callaway

The Chrome Tour TD is the fastest ball in the Callaway range. From core to cover, it has been designed with a firm feel and higher compression for the faster speed players.
It too uses the same Hyper Fast Soft Core design like the other Chrome Tour models to produce maximum ball speeds for long distance. The Tour Aero dimple design helps produce a consistent and penetrating ball flight especially at fast speeds for more control. Around the green you’ll get max spin and control with the soft urethane cover.
Chrome Tour TD is a firm feel ball, with lower spin on full shots for players who prefer a consistently penetrating flight.

Conclusion - Which Callaway Chrome tour ball is right for you?

These are the three premium offerings from Callaway and the golf balls which are played on tour. All of them do differ slightly, but if you want the best for your game, it's important you get the right one for you.

The Callaway Chrome Tour TD is ideal for the high speed player who wants a more penetrating flight with low spin and a firmer feel. It’s fast, delivering great distance with a firmer feel around the greens in comparison to the Chrome Tour.

The Chrome Tour X is not as firm as the Chrome Tour TD but it still delivers fast speed with a bit more spin off the tee and also in the longer shots. But, this spins the most in the Chrome Tour ball range, especially around the greens, giving you great control and spin.

Lastly, the Chrome Tour is a softer option in terms of feel out of the two other Chrome Tour options. It is lower spinning, lower launching and has high spin around the greens.

All three Chrome Tour options are brilliant, but there is one option there for every golfer at the premium price point.
