Callaway has launched its new Mack Daddy 3 Milled wedges, describing its as ‘the most complete wedge line the company has every created’.

Offering unique grinds and grooves for every condition, swing and golf shot, they were crafted and shaped by Callaway’s master wedge designer Roger Cleveland and offer a choice of three different grinds – S-Grind, W-Grind and C-Grind.

The S-Grind is for use in normal conditions and is Callaway’s most versatile, all-purpose grind that shows its utility across a variety of conditions and swings types.

For use in soft conditions, the W-Grind has a slightly wider sole and is perfect for the golfer playing in slightly softer conditions or who has the tendency to come in steep with their swing. Great for using out of the sand, it suits a variety of swings from more steep to more sweep, creating a moderate divot pattern.

The C-Grind is designed for firmer conditions and versatility around the greens. The heel and toe relief of this grind allows for a number of shots, especially opening up the face and keeping the leading edge low.

"Thanks to Progressive Groove Optimisation, our MD3 wedges generate greater spin as the loft increases" - Roger Cleveland, Callaway's master wedge designer

The Mack Daddy 3 designs also feature a Progressive Groove Optimisation system which employs three different groove patterns to increase spin as loft increases.

“By increasing each groove’s wall angle and therefore the aggressiveness, as you move higher in loft we can now give players better control and the ability to stop the golf balls more efficiently,” said Cleveland.

“Typically, a player will create their most spin with around a 50º wedge and their spin will then drop off as they go higher in loft. However, thanks to Progressive Groove Optimisation, our MD3 wedges generate greater spin as the loft increases, giving maximum control when and where the golfer needs it.

Neil Howie, president and managing director of Callaway EMEA, said: “Callaway has gained significant market share in the wedge category over the last two years and our momentum in this category is at an all-time high. The MD3 wedges have a fresh look and unique story and with the success of the Mack Daddy 2 lines, plus the buzz around our recently launched PM Grind wedges, we have a great opportunity now to seriously grow our business in this category, offering golfers real game enhancing, specialist products.
