It's that time of year where new drivers are about to be launched to golfers. It's also the perfect time to pick up a bargain with the drivers that they are replacing. That's why we've put together a list of the best driver deals for golfers this Christmas.
When new drivers start to hit the shelves, it naturally means that older models will drop significantly in price. These drivers will be from the previous generation or the generation before that. They might not posses the same technology as the new models, but that's not to say that they won't perform well on the course. They will also be easier on the bank balance.
Best Driver Deals for Golfers this Christmas
PROS
- Incredible technology
- A great looking driver
- Explosive ball speeds for longer drives
CONS
- There are bigger savings to be had further down this list...
Kicking us off, we have the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max. This is an impressive driver that will continue to perform well for many years.
In our testing at the start of 2024, this was one of the top performers, thanks to some of the impressive technology in the head. As you can see, there's plenty of adjustability here, but the Ai Smart Face is also a winner, as it helps with forgiveness across the face. Great speed, dispersion and distance is what you can expect from this driver and that's what we all want. Crucially, at £449 instead of £569, there's a saving to be had on what is still a premium bit of kit.
Certainly a great deal.
PROS
- A great looking and well designed driver
- Produces impressive ball speeds
- Great levels of adjustability which we come to expect from Cobra
CONS
- You'll find more forgiveness in newer models
If you’re looking for speed and distance, the Cobra Aerojet is a great driver. Cobra drivers are generally at a lower price point than some of the other brands, so when we see further reductions, the numbers are pretty enticing.
The Aerojet is an aerodynamic driver, fast through the air, forgiving with the H.O.T Face and PWR Shell insert and produces fast ball speeds with PWRBrirde weighting supporting the face flexing. It does have the adjustability to tighten that dispersion and ball flight on the course. It's worth noting that the likes of Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland still use this driver on the PGA Tour, so it clearly still performs well.
At under £200, this is a steal.
PROS
- A solid all round performer at the top of the bag
- Cortech chamber technology was a big step forward
- Certainly a good looking club
CONS
- You'll find more forgiveness in other drivers
The Mizuno ST-Z range really found its feet with this driver. The addition of the Cortech Chamber which sits in the head of the driver really added some speed and forgiveness to the range of Mizuno drivers, making it a great option for golfers.
This driver features titanium in an inviting head shape, making it enjoyable to hit, which we've come to expect from Mizuno.
This club goes under the radar, but it's got a huge discount here which certainly makes it worth looking at.
PROS
- An incredibly forgiving driver. If you miss the centre of the face a lot, you'll love this
- Still maintains good levels of distance, despite being geared towards forgiveness
- A huge head makes for an inviting look
CONS
- You'll get bigger discounts elsewhere
Forgiveness was a big talking point in 2024. If that's what you want in your driver, then the Ping G430 Max driver is hard to beat.
This is such an easy driver to hit, no matter what your swing is like. If your someone who hits every possible part of the clubface, this is certainly the driver for you.
All this forgiveness was made possible with a fixed back weight, a larger head profile, and a Carbonfly Wrap on the crown to deliver that 10K MOI for reduced twisting at impact and straighter shots.
The price is more reasonable now, at £499, rather than £599.
PROS
- Rebound frame technology makes for solid ball speeds off the tee
- A classic look that will appeal to lots of golfers
- A great all round performer
CONS
- Others feature more adjustability
The Srixon ZX5 MKII gets overlooked sometimes when it comes to top drivers, but that really shouldn't be the case.
Srixon's Rebound Frame delivers great speed across the face thanks to the variable face thickness, while the Star Frame Crown allows for low centre of gravity, which makes for a high launching ball flight.
This would usually retail for just under £500, but it's now closer to £300, making it a good deal.
PROS
- Explosive ball speeds
- A big upgrade on the driver that went before it
- Full of impressive technology that still performs really well
CONS
- Some will prefer the new look from TaylorMade
The TaylorMade Stealth 2 is a brilliant driver and was understandably very popular when it came out.
The launch of the TaylorMade Qi10, as well as the upcoming new line, means the Stealth 2 range is getting a discount in price, ideal for golfers looking for a bargain. With tech like the 60x Carbon Twist Face getting you hitting it straighter on toe and heel strikes, you can't go wrong with this design from the driver specialists at TaylorMade.
This was £499 and is now £349, a really great price for a top club.
PROS
- A driver with looks that will appeal to almost every golfer on the planet
- Sensational distance from the tee
- Good levels of forgiveness on mishits
CONS
- Titleist don't release new drivers in January, so you're missing out on some bigger discount
The Titleist TSR range made quite an impact when it hit the tour. This year, the GT range did the same, which means that for us, drivers like the TSR2 feature some nice price reductions.
With the aerodynamic head shape and the VFT face design allowing for better forgiveness and speed, you're going to see great performance from this driver. As well as that, the centre of gravity is placed to allow this to be a high launch and low spinning model, which will suit a wide range of players.
Reduced from £529, down to £389, you'll get yourself a pretty good deal here.
PROS
- An attractive price point for a top performing driver
- Solid consistency in performance
- Carbon crown helps it to perform nicely
CONS
- There are better looking drivers on this list, but that's just our opinion
This Wilson Dynapower Carbon driver is a very underrated option. With a new Wilson range coming in 2025, there's also some great offers to be had with this. With the Ai PKR2 face design, it is forgiving across all areas of the face delivering speed, distance and overall consistency in dispersion. The centre of gravity is low delivering low spin and fast speed and with the carbon crown and sole panel it creates a neutral flight and low spin.
This driver was priced at £420, but is now just £249, which really makes it a bargain.
