It’s that time of year where you might be looking to invest in some new golf shoes for the summer. So, how do the Duca del Cosma Positano golf shoes stack up?
We took them out on the course to find out. Let’s take a closer look.
I’ve been a fan of the way Duca del Cosma shoes look for a while, so I was really excited to get my hands on these. The Positano is made from premium Italian Nappa leather and that’s apparent as soon as you get your hands on them. I’ve got the white and blue colourway, which is probably my favourite of a wide collection. It’s an eye catching design without being overbearing, so a big tick in the box for me here.
I’ve only worn these a few times on the course but I can already tell that they’re going to last a long, long time. Clearly they’re made from high quality materials, which you would expect.
These are small details, but I like the carry bag that comes with these, as well as the letter from Frank van Wezel on the inside of the lid of the box. There’s also another pair of laces, should you wish to switch it up a little bit.
Of course, you want to know the details about the shoes, so let’s get into it.
Here’s what Duca del Cosma has to say about their Positano shoes.
The Positano is one of several new men’s shoes in the ‘Sporty’ section to feature the DEva outsole offering a well-constructed fit to ensure golfers can perform at the highest level in a lightweight build without sacrificing foot support. A three-tone colour design on the premium Italian Nappa leather outer brightens up any fairway and clubhouse.
I’ve got to say, I’m really impressed with these shoes from Duca del Cosma. My colleague, James Tait, has raved about this brand for a while, so I was excited to get these out on the course and I can see why he’s such a big fan.
Firstly, these are comfortable out of the box. My first time wearing them was to Dundonald, where I spent the day hitting shots, walking around in the clubhouse and in the car. I even wore them around the shop on the way home and not once did I feel they were out of place. They didn’t take any time to break in and the outsole gives grip on shots without being difficult to walk on when inside.
On the course, I found them to be the perfect balance of comfortable, while stable. The insole is firm but made from such high quality material that it’s still very pleasant to wear. The EVA outsole is very noticeable and makes walking in these a pleasure.
When it comes to looks in golf shoes, I’m usually a more traditional type. But, I’m really coming round to liking trainer style golf shoes too and these are some of the best looking around, in my opinion. Of course, that’s all subjective, but they made me feel great on the course.
I have had times where my feet have felt heavy after a lot of walking on the course, but there was no such issues with the Positanos. They are a fairly lightweight golf shoe, but again the outsole provided enough comfort and a little bit of bounce to keep you feeling fresh at the end of the day.
Finally, these are really easy to clean. Believe it or not, I hit plenty bunker shots while these were on my feet and they picked up quite a bit of dust on the leather upper. But, a quick clean after the round and you would be none the wiser to it.
All in all, these are a great pair of golf shoes. I tend to opt for spiked shoes, but if I was opting for a pair that I knew I was going to wear in the clubhouse and on the golf course, I would struggle to see past these.
