When it comes to golf balls, Callaway are always going to be a standout. But, which of Callaway's 2024 range of golf balls should you be using?

Callaway balls have been massively popular across the professional tours, especially with the success of the Chrome Soft.

But with a new shift and new range the new Callaway Chrome Tour X, Chrome Tour and Chrome Soft balls are sure to impress with a new golf standard.

So, let’s dive in and see just how they compare.

Perfect if you're looking for a mid-flight ball with fast speeds and max spin around the greens

PROS

 • Hyper fast core delivers fast balls speeds
 • Great workability with new dimple design
 • High performance cover for max greenside spin

CONS

 • Nothing to report.
Available for £55 from Callaway

The Callaway Chrome Tour X is already hugely popular on tour because of its speed off the driver face but also, its control around the greens.
If you're keen on speed, the new Hyper Fast Soft Core has you covered. The core is engineered for the players who want maximum ball speed and distance, especially off the driver. On top of that you have the Tour Aero design which is built for a consistent penetrating flight with enhanced workability for every club.
Around the greens the spin is high with the new High-Performance Tour Urethane Soft Cover. Tour players and consistent ball strikers can take advantage of the spin and workability in Chrome Tour X to hit the most precise approach shots and wedge shots around the green.
The consistency in performance from the Chrome Tour X comes from Callaway’s precision technologies that meticulously measure over 100 million proof points, for more consistent performance in the ball.

A low launching ball with fast speeds and high spin

PROS

 • Hyper Fast Core delivers fast ball speed
 • Low launching a low spinning long game characteristic
 • New cover delivers better greenside performance

CONS

 • None
Available for £55 from Callaway

The Callaway Chrome Tour is Callaway’s new gold standard ball. With a new aerodynamic design which delivers a lower launching, lower spinning ball flight in the driver and longer irons.
When it comes to spin around the green the spin is high delivering great control but it’s ever so slightly lower in comparison to the Chrome Tour X. This is down to the new urethane soft cover.
Ball speeds are fast with new Hyper Fast Core which also features in Chrome Tour X delivers the consistent and long distances, especially when hitting driver.
The feel in the Chrome Tour is softer in comparison to a firmer Chrome Tour X which will favour players who enjoy a softer feeling ball.
It too goes through the same quality assurance testing measuring 100 million proof points, for more consistent performance in the ball.
As you can see the Callaway Chrome Tour features the same technologies as the Chrome Tour X but has a different feel, launch and spin characteristics.

Perfect if you're looking for a high launching low spinning ball soft feel

PROS

 • Three-piece design is soft in feel
 • Tour cover delivers high in greenside spin
 • Low in long game spin and with a higher launch window

CONS

 • Doesn't spin as much the Chrome Tour X
Available for £55 from Callaway

If you’re an aspirational golfer looking for a tour quality ball, the Callaway Chrome Soft is a great option.
The Chrome Soft is a three-piece design with a higher launching, low spinning profile.
With the Hyper Speed Soft Core, it will deliver the fastest speed possible for you delivering consistency and quality performance. Now combine that with a new aerodynamic design which launches higher the new uniquely designed aerodynamic package, it aligns with the launch characteristics of the ball for an optimised flight window.
With the softer feel it provides consistent spin, for more bite on shorter shots. This delivers great control on the greenside shots.
So, what you can expect with this ball is high launch, low spin and soft feel with great control around the greens.

Conclusion

The new Callaway gold standard offering is brilliant with low, mid and high launching options with different feel and spin across the range that cater to the professional level and to the aspirational golfer.

The three options are brilliant from Callaway offering different, spin, launch, feel and speed. There is a great option here for any golfer who wants to play a premium ball from Callaway.

For me, I've got to opt for the Chrome Tour X ball. It's the fastest ball I've ever tested and I'm getting amazing ball speeds from it. I'd really recommend that you give it a shot, as it's going to increase your distance off the tee too.
